The photo series was taken in the premises of the factory “Lauma”. The reality of the factory, described by Karl Marx, is a place where working people are separated from their tools. It is an everyday life that workers themselves are trying to make more pleasant by inhabiting and decorating work spaces according to their taste. The first part of the series is a study of such phenomena – plants, soft seats, mirrors – reminds of coziness and the ability to take a break, which is often not done in the work routine.
The overall orderliness of the factory processes and the gray everyday life impresses the worker in a narrow form, reminding him of his place in the system. The least protected are the “low-skilled” workers, whose work capacity is equated with unattainable standards of automated equipment.
